Basic Flash Drawing Skills Demonstration Assignment

Draw objects with the drawing tools

  1. Create a new Flash file. name it skillsdemoYourLastName

  2. Display the grid

  3. Set the stroke color to black and the fill color to blue

  4. Draw an oval to the left of the stage, then draw a cirlce beneath the oval.

  5. Use the Rectangle tool to draw a rectangle in the middle of the stage, then draw a square beneath the rectangle

  6. Use the Line tool to draw a horizontal line on the right side of the stage, then draw a vertical line beneath the horizontal one.

  7. Use the Pen tool to draw an arrow-head shaped object above the rectangle.

  8. Use the Pencil tool to draw a freehand line above the oval, then use the smooth option to smooth out the line.

Select and edit objects

  1. Use the Selection tool to select the stroke of the circle, then deselect the stroke

  2. Use the Selection tool to select the fill of the circle, then deselect the fill

  3. Use the Selection tool to select the oval and the circle, then deselect the oval and the circle

  4. Use the Ink Bottle to chnage the stroke color of the circle to Red

  5. Use the Paint Bucket to change the Fill color of the square to a red gradient

  6. Change the fill color of the oval to a blue gradient

Work with objects

  1. Copy and paste the arrow object

  2. Move the copied arrow to the right and below the original arrow

  3. Rescale both to approximatley half their original size

  4. Flip the copied arrow horizontally

  5. Rotate the rectangle to a 45 degree angle

  6. Skew the square to the right

  7. Use the Selection tool to reshape the circle into a cresent

Enter and edit text

  1. Enter the following text in a text block at the top of the stage:Elmwood Park High School

  2. Change the text to font: Tahoma, size: 24, color: gold

  3. Use the gridlines to align the text box in the top center of the stage

  4. Skew the text to the right

Work with layers

  1. Insert a layer into the document

  2. Change the name of the new layer to: Heading Bkgnd

  3. Draw a rounded corner rectangle the covers the words Elmwood Park High School

  4. Switch the Stacking Order of the layers

  5. Lock all layers

  6. Hide the Heading Bkgnd layer

  7. Show all layers as outlines

  8. Create a Guide Layer and move the arrows to it

  9. Add a layer called Slogan and use the Text tool to type Home of the Tigers below the header

  10. Break the text apart distribute the text to layers

  11. Create a Folder layer and add each layer of the slogan to it

  12. Unlock the layers

  13. Show the Heading bkgnd layer

  14. Turn off view the outlines

Use the Merge Drawing Model mode

  1. Insert a new layer and call it: mergedraw

  2. Click the Rectangle tool and verify that the Output Drawing option is deselected

  3. Draw a square, then use the Oval tool to draw a circle with a different color that covers approximately half of the square

  4. Use the Selection tool to drag the circle off the square

Use the Object Drawing Model mode

  1. Insert a new layer and call it: objectdraw

  2. Click the Rectangle tool and click the Object Drawing option to select it

  3. Draw a square, then use the Oval tool to draw a circle with a different color that covers approximately half of the square

  4. Use the Selection tool to drag the circle off the square
